How Aluminium Disc Is Produced: Rolling, Cutting, Finishing Process | Top Metal

Learn the full aluminium disc production flow from raw aluminum ingot to finished circular blanks, including hot rolling, cold rolling, blank cutting and surface finishing by Top Metal factory.

Step 1: Raw Material Melting & Rolling (Core Foundation)

The whole production starts with high-purity aluminum ingots of 1050, 1060, 1100 or 3003 alloys. Ingots are melted and cast into thick aluminum slabs first.
  1. Hot rolling: Slabs are heated to high temperature and repeatedly pressed by hot rolling mills to form wide aluminum coils. This step eliminates internal metal stress and improves ductility for later deep drawing.
  2. Cold rolling: After cooling, hot rolled coils enter cold rolling lines to control precise thickness from 0.15mm to 10mm. Multiple rolling passes ensure tight thickness tolerance, a critical standard for premium aluminium disc. After rolling, coils will be annealed to O soft temper or processed into H hard temper as customer requests.

Step 2: Precision Cutting & Blanking

Qualified aluminum coils move to automatic blanking machines for circular cutting, the key step to shape aluminium disc.
Custom moulds matching target diameters (50mm–1200mm) cut round blanks in mass production. Our equipment adopts hydraulic blanking technology to avoid burrs, edge cracks and uneven edges. Uncut leftover aluminum strips are recycled to save raw material costs. After cutting, all discs are sorted by size, alloy and temper for separate storage.

Step 3: Surface Finishing & Quality Inspection

Finishing determines surface quality and follow-up processing compatibility of aluminium disc.
  1. Deburring: Mechanical polishing removes tiny edge burrs generated during cutting.
  2. Surface cleaning: Degreasing and washing clear oil stains and oxide dust on disc surface.
  3. Flatness calibration: Warped discs are leveled by flattening machines to reach high flatness standard.
    The final link is strict full inspection: workers test thickness, diameter, surface smoothness and mechanical properties. Defective products are picked out, while qualified aluminium discs are packed with waterproof film for sea transportation.
